About Us
Iona Kent and South East is a DSA-QAG Accredited
Centre and a member of NADP, NNAC, PATOSS and DEKS
(Dyslexia East Kent Support Group).
We provide a complete professional assessment service, undertaking
assessments on behalf of all Funding Bodies and Institutions (including the NHS, Open University,
Research Councils and Action for Blind People (previously RNIB) in London, Kent and the South East.
We have a collaborative
arrangement with
The Trinity College of Music in Greenwich and Action for Blind People, where
assessments can also be arranged.
Our key commitments are that we undertake to:
- Assess students with all disabilities and make referrals
to other relevant professionals, where appropriate.
- Commit to respond to enquiries the same day as received.
- Aim to complete and submit needs assessment reports within 10 days of the assessment interview.
- Arrange assessments, including home or Institution based, which can be held on weekends
or evenings if necessary.
- Organise and run FE/HE training workshops and symposia for funding bodies, educational
practitioners, trainers, parents and students.
- Actively liaise with all stakeholders involved in the DSA process (e.g. students,
funding authorities, suppliers, trainers etc.) to facilitate students in accessing
their DSA successfully. This includes post assessment support for students, in regard
to their DSA, throughout the full term of their courses.
All our Assessors have appropriate training, professional experience
and qualifications. Joint expertise includes:
- Teaching - including HE level;
- Training in DSAs procedures;
- Professionally trained interviewing and report writing skills;
- Specialist Tutoring in FE/HE;
- Assessment and Mentoring in
Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, ASD/Asperger’s Syndrome, Psychology, Mental Health, Sensory and Physical Impairment, other medical or unseen
conditions.
